Our Special Mission
Mobilizing the Community to create faith-based home environments that inspire, affirm and empower adults with developmental disabilities in their life choices.
Welcome to Guardian Angel Homes
Welcome to Guardian Angel Homes, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing and supporting the lives of adults with developmental disabilities.
Our mission is to “mobilize the community to create faith-based home environments that inspire, affirm and empower adults with developmental disabilities in their life choices.” We realize our vision by offering living and life building skills to adults with developmental disabilities by providing residences, programs and services that engage community inclusion and empowerment.
Cognizant of the need for persons with developmental disabilities to have their faith heritage respected while living in supportive environments, a group of parents came together in 1990 to discuss creating homes to meet that need. These parents of special children had a vision of hope, security and connections to the community for their family member, and wanted to build an environment to care for them when they were no longer able to do so.
In 1996, Guardian Angel Homes was incorporated to fulfill their vision. Today, people of all faiths make up our community. Guardian Angel Homes is dedicated to providing permanency and a place to be and belong within the community. (Delete third sentence). Our commitment is to the individualization of support services and assistance in finding and developing meaningful relationships within their chosen life of faith as well as in the broader community.
Our goals are to:
- Inspire individuals to reach their full potential in a loving, safe and faith-filled environment.
- Empower individuals and families, identify options and support decision-making, through the creation of meaningful relationships.
- Respect the dignity and freedom of each individual.
- Work closely with family and current care providers to provide quality and “cutting edge” techniques of care and support.
- Create an accessible, collaborative, cost effective support network of direct and referred services for participants.
- Create environments that inspire, affirm and empower the unique physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of participants.
- Provide educational and volunteer opportunities for providers, caregivers and the greater community.
- Collaborate with existing community agencies and organizations.
- Advocate for the rights of persons with developmental disabilities.
